Research

As part of its mission in undergraduate education, Penn is committed to nurturing the next generation of world-class researchers.

Penn is among the most accomplished and productive research universities in the world, whether in the field of natural sciences, social sciences, or humanities. Penn ranks among America's top recipients of competitive research grants, earning more than $500 million in external funding annually.

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) helps Penn undergraduates to pursue independent research through personal advising and administration of competitive research grants. CURF advisors assist undergraduates in finding faculty mentors and funding. In addition, CURF supports and endorses students applying for major, international, post-graduate and other competitive fellowships and provides information and assistance for undergraduates applying for University and other sources of funding for research and research-related activities.
