Transferring into the College of Liberal and Professional Studies
The College of Liberal and Professional Studies offers courses primarily in the evening on a full- or part-time basis.
The College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) is the division of the School of Arts and Sciences responsible for continuing and professional education. The College of Liberal and Professional Studies provides the returning student additional counseling and support services and allows its students to enroll in both LPS and College of Arts and Sciences courses. It has been our experience that LPS offers returning students a more flexible learning environment and thus a more successful entry into Penn's academic community.
Students enrolled through LPS earn the same B.A. degree as students in the College of Arts and Sciences and may choose from over 50 majors. LPS students may pursue their studies through evening courses, day courses, or a combination of both and are offered the option to study on a full or part time basis. Please note that some majors may be completed in their entirety through evening attendance while others may require attendance in day and evening courses.
Students who have been absent from formal study for a time and are interested in part-time or full-time liberal arts study solely in the evening should apply directly to the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. An LPS recruitment specialist will be glad to assist you in determining the appropriate plan.
Students who have been denied admission to any Bachelor's degree program at the University of Pennsylvania must wait one year before applying to the LPS Bachelor of Arts program.

Guest Students: The College of Liberal and Professional Studies enrolls students in its Guest Student Program for one or two semesters. Students in this program may take full-time courses in the College of Arts and Sciences on a space available basis. No financial aid from the University of Pennsylvania is available for guest students.
